The topic that Jenna and I will be doing for our Hidden Jewel assignment is the Aragon Ballroom.
I guess there was really no problem in finding a Wikipedia entry for this topic, but there was no entry listed in the other online encyclopedia that we were directed to. So I had decided to just Google the topic, and browse for possible sources. So other than Wikipedia the source that I decided to use was from the Metro Mix Chicago Website. Through the Wikipedia site it is not said who wrote the page, but it is possible to see who changed the page and when the changes were made, and exactly what the changes were. As for the other site, there is also no specific name listed for who wrote the section about the Aragon Ballroom, this seems as though it is more of a review and short blurb about Aragon Ballroom, rather than a more in-depth section about it. For the Metro Mix site, it was not found when the last time the site had been updated, but it is possible to make changes to the page, just as it is possible with Wikipedia. As for Wikipedia, there is a clear date as to when the page was last updated, which shows how current the source is. For both sites there are external links, that either connected me to where some of the information was pulled, or to where other information similar to this could be found. The Links for the Wikipedia site seem to be more related to the topic at hand rather than the other site where they seem to be about possible things that are related to the topic. Out of the two entries that I have found, the Wikipedia entry seems to be a better source of information. It has a more detailed text, whereas the other source that I found is more of a review and an overview of the Ballroom. For Wikipedia, there are places where one can go to see the history and discussions about the source. But for the Metro Mix site, there was only a place where you the viewer could decide to change something about the entry, rather than seeing what has been changed and what others have thought about the page.
Overall, I felt that the better of the two sources was Wikipedia. It just seemed to not only provide more information on the actual topic, but it provided the viewer with more information on where this data came from and when and what has been changed about the page. The other source was decent in that it provided the viewer with a brief overview of the topic, but the Wikipedia site had a better in depth response to the topic at hand.
